How to Host Your Own Check Mates Event

1. Find a public location.

i iCheck Mates events have successfully occurred at libraries and houses of worship.          oii Community centers and schools are also great options.

2. Secure a date and time.

3. Make sure you have supplies.

You'll need tables, chairs, and chess sets. (Invite players to pack their own sets, and see if the       aafacility has any available.) Check Mates events don't require much.

4. Publicize.

iiiUse social media and flyers. You can contact schools, elderly facilities, and youth   iiiiorganizations. Don't forget to tell us!

5. On the day of the event, keep these tips in mind:

  • When players enter, have them identify their skill level: beginner, beginner-intermediate, intermediate, and advanced. (Colored stickers that players can wear are helpful.)

  • Encourage players to pick opponents at their level whom they are meeting for the first time.

6. Contact us.

iPlease contact us for questions and to let us know how your event ran.
